About Us
Amy Food, Inc. was founded by Phyllis and Victor Hsu, who emigrated from Taiwan in 1971. In order to support their growing family, Phyllis and Victor purchased a small local food business and added Phyllis's eggrolls to the menu. Not long afterward, they identified
an opportunity to supply fresh, high-quality oriental foods to the American market and moved to a larger location to expand their business. They based their operations in Houston, Texas because of the large local Asian population and a climate similar to that of
their home country. In keeping with the idea of uniting Asian and American, Phyllis and Victor then chose to name the company after their first American-born child, Amy. The Mandarin version of the English name "Amy" translates to "love of America."

The Three Dragon brand name also has a special significance to Amy Food. In the Taiwanese tradition, if a family has three members who are born in the Year of the Dragon, that family shall experience much luck and success. The Hsus have been blessed with three family members who are dragons, and they have all brought luck to the company.

From the start, Phyllis's natural marketing abilities provided Amy Food with opportunities in a variety of local food service accounts. That early emphasis on the food service industry continues today, as evidenced by our current position as a major supplier to a variety of public school systems located throughout the United States. It soon became clear that we should branch out into wholesale foods and create more products for the broadening market.

In addition to our full line of eggrolls, we now produce potstickers, wontons, and a variety of meal solutions including rice bowls, lo-mein noodle bowls, and party platters. Our manufacturing plant for all these products includes many state-of-the-art processing and packaging technologies in a 40,000-square foot, USDA-inspected facility. It also incorporates QA/QC areas and R&D, as well as warehousing and administrative offices.
